Unchained Expression ( working on the theme of Freedom)
120 x 60cm Acrylic and oil pastel on Canvas
For me freedom is allowing myself to experience emotions fully, without shame or suppression. In Unchained Expression, I’m exploring the release of difficult emotions—grief, sadness, uncertainty, anger. The eye, wide open and unguarded, represents a willingness to look directly at these feelings, to sit with them rather than turn away.
The emphasis around the mouth reflect how hard it can be to put these emotions into words. Sometimes, they feel too heavy to speak out loud, but here, on this canvas, they have space to breathe. The messy layers and chaotic textures show that I don’t have to have it all figured out; freedom means letting go of the need for everything to look neat and polished. It’s about embracing the raw, unfiltered self.
I’m letting it all out on this canvas and it feels strangely freeing. I’m exploring freedom as the wild, messy, beautiful ability to feel and express every emotion without holding back. There’s a lightness that comes from this release, a kind of unburdening.
